Rice Wheat Consortium (RWC) is seeking an Agronomist for the USAID sponsored project titled “Accelerating the tillage revolution in the Indus-Ganges basin: Fostering adoption of resource conserving technologies to promote economic growth, resource conservation, and food security”. The Three year project with RWC as executing agency aims to develop systems solutions for site-specific productivity and sustainability problems in intensive rice-wheat cropping systems in the Indo-Gangetic Plains. The project will have at its core, site-level cross-IARCs collaboration with in India at a number of core rice-wheat research sites. The selected expert will be located in Eastern Gangetic Plains to work with our national partners. He will be responsible to provide technical and other logistic support for accelerating the promotion of the RCTs in the Gangetic Plains.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible:
  • to assist the Regional Facilitator (RWC) in implementing the programs.
  • Contribute agronomic expertise on soil, water and crop establishment research & Management in rice-wheat cropping systems.
  • Conduct strategic and applied research for development of sustainable technologies leading to “double Zero-till” in Rice wheat system.
  • Collaborate with national scientists in SAUs in India and in the IARCs at the site.
Qualifications
  • Ph. D in soils/agronomy/farm machinery with training in integrated crop management in systems perspective.
  • A strong commitment to field-oriented farmer participatory research system.
  • Excellent inter-personal, management, writing and oral communication skills with farmers and professionals.
Contract Period: 3-year contract, and renewable based on continued funding, organizational needs and result oriented performance.
Emoluments: A competitive salary package would include insurance, medical, traveling, relocation expenses, and other benefits as per RWC/ CIMMYT India policy for nationally recruited staff.
