The
Consortium was established in 1994 as an Eco-regional
Initiative of the
Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research
(CGIAR), involving the National Agricultural Research
Systems of South Asia, the International Agricultural
Research Centers and Advanced Research Organizations.
We strive to form a network between national and international
agricultural institutions to address the issues of
productivity enhancement of rice and wheat in a sustainable
fashion. Our research agenda is supported by
many sources, namely the Governments of Bangladesh,
Nepal,
India,
Pakistan,
Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Department
for International Development (DFID), Asian
Development Bank (ADB), Australian
Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR),
International
Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), United
States Agency for International Development (USAID),
and the World
Bank.
